XV REDINTUR-Icárion Forum and LII Assembly of the Network
Lina Rojas from Colombia, whose Master’s thesis I had the pleasure of supervising, has been shortlisted as one of the eight finalists for the award for the best Master’s thesis in tourism for the 2024–2025 academic year.

On 20 and 21 November, the XV REDINTUR-Icárion Forum and the LII Assembly of the Network were held at the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), two key events for the academic and professional tourism community.
The event began with the official opening ceremony, presided over by:
José Antonio Fraiz, President of REDINTUR.
Belén López Ayuso, Vice-Rector for E-Learning at UCAM.
Ginesa Martínez del Vas, Director of the International Chair in Tourism Intelligence of the Region of Murcia (UCAM-ITREM).
This was followed by the round-table discussion ‘Sustainable Tourism: From the Classroom to the Destination’, featuring Jordi Rivera (Icárion), David Campano (Visit Finland), Iria Caamaño (University of A Coruña) and Soledad Morales (UOC), moderated by the president of REDINTUR, José Antonio Fraiz. A forum for reflection on how to translate sustainability from university education into the practical management of destinations.
Subsequently, the eight best Master’s Theses (TFM) from the 2024/2025 academic year were presented; these were selected from 38 proposals received, demonstrating the high academic standard and innovation within the Network.
XV REDINTUR-Icárion Forum Awards
First Prize: Helena Pérez Pérez (CETT-UB)
Thesis: Learning Alimara: a breath of fresh air for educational innovation in hospitality at the CETT-UB University Hotel.
Second Prize: Iván Muela Rabadán (Complutense University of Madrid)
Thesis: The integration of social sustainability into public policies for tourist destinations: the case of the city of Málaga.
Runner-up: Paulina Marcaida (Autonomous University of Barcelona)
Thesis: A critical analysis of governance and the use of technology in the management of tourist flows in Barcelona. Nou Barris Urban Art Laboratory.
